 Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday, July 25, kidnapped 10 members of a research team from the north-east - Over 30 people have been reported dead in the death toll following the ambush by Boko Haram in Borno state Boko Haram insurgents have released a photo of three members of staff of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), who were recently abducted by terrorists while on an oil exploration mission in Borno state.

NAIJ.com had earlier reported that some officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and members of staff of UNIMAID undertaking a research project concerning oil exploration in the area were abducted.

The victims were abducted near a village called Jibi in Gubio local government area on Tuesday, July 25, while moving alongside some personnel of the Civilian-JTF. Three lecturers from the University of Maiduguri and three others on the oil exploration team in the Lake Chad Basin were earlier reported dead.

No less than 12 soldiers in an earlier report were killed while at least four out of 12 staff of the University of Maiduguri equally lost their lives.

The names of the deceased are: Dr Milicus Joseph from Geology Dept, Idris Abubakar Njodi and Dr Daniel Birma of Dept of Soil Science.
