PHOTOS: FIELD MONITORING AND EVALUATION VISIT TO DREP CENTRE BY THE NATIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION (DEPARTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION NIGERIA) ATTACHED TO THE PRESIDENCY OFFICE ABUJA.

We were visited unannounced by a federal monitoring and evaluation team from Abuja to come and verify if we have..
achieved valuable results in bringing positive changes such as peaceful coexistence between Muslim and Christians in areas were crisis hit in previous years. International bodies have donated to projects about peace building to be carried out by our nonprofit NGO. So peace works in selected areas in our approved proposals, must to be monitored and evaluated by teams sent to our organization via the donor companies, so as to report if the projects are yielding positive result or not.

Beatrice and Mike represented NPC from Abuja. They visited Jos North where I coordinate the activities and action plans for Drep centre.  Though I coordinate Jos North, but we still all work as a team in Drep to bring sustainable peace in Jos North and Plateau state. We also have key resource persons from each community in Jos North, who work selflessly and endlessly to see that together, we keep restoring peace gradually in their community.

We visited the mai angwa of Gangere community (Alhaji Umar Ali), who left all he was doing to welcome our guest who have come to their community all the way from Abuja to take reports about how far we have gone in peace building in their community. He told us the sad news of a great peace ambassador, who died a day before, so we paid the family a condolence visit and encouraged his surviving first son to continue where his father stopped in his works on peaceful dialogues, reconciliations, mediations, negotiations, and promoting peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in northern Nigeria.

We also visited the Delimi yan doya market, and other places in the market where Christians have refused to come and do business after a horrific crises that took place in that market some years ago. Now the market is active again, and Christian women all the way from Miango come to the market now to sell their produce. Bashiru Yusuf, and Muhammed Abdulramad our resource persons from Gangere and Delimi, are the main heroes of this great achievement. What would I do without such selfless great agents of peace attached to me? They make team work beautiful. I am glad I have such a team working with me to bring sustainable peace in their area in Jos North LGA.

We visited Sarkin Arab last, and it was awesome too. Our ever agile, brave, diligent, big hearted, straight forward, funny, and lovable brother Aliyu mohammed, the key Sarkin Arab resource person to Drep centre took us around. Well he was in the car from the start though, he is always there for me and for Drep center. We visited one of the key elders who was sick at home, and he welcomed us, told us how he bought the whole land where he built the compound we were in, at 50 kobo ($1) back then!!! Even Aliyu was as shocked as we were.

The monitoring team was satisfied, and had fun, and I had that reward of inner peace in me. Though Muhammed Abdulramad was absent, we felt his presence with his continuous calls to know if all was going well. I would say that from our Director down to our office cleaners in Drep center, and all our key resource persons in their communities in Jos North, together as a team, have contributed so much to this success we have achieved so far. We are still doing a lot more to bring sustainable peace in Jos North and Plateau state. I bless each and every one of Drep team and Jos North resource persons, and I also bless you reading this post right now.

Best regards
