Peter Armand Boyo the “Jalabiya” Man: Which Native Style Will be Your Signature Look by "ember" Months?

The “ember” months is fast approaching which marks the beginning of the holiday season and with that comes lots of celebrations and events...

Whether it’s the Muslim holidays or Thanksgiving or Christmas or Kwanzaa, wherever you find yourself in that season make sure you look your best and slay your look. Remember the single most important factor is a great fit.

My personal favorite and what has become my signature outfit is the Jalabiya inspired by Arab men’s style. It is free-flowing and comfortable tot he core. Borrowing from other cultures for style inspiration is something that happens often in the fashion industry worldwide.

The mixing of cultures, inspired by rich traditional wear allows for a seamless blend of elements of tradition with today’s fashion sensibilities. These borrowed styles transcend religious, ethnic, geographical and linguistic barriers to evoke a wide range of globalized men’s clothing.

Similar to the Jalabiya are the traditional Tunics and the Sherwani, inspired by Indian fashion. The Sherwani is a longer version of a classic coat with a bishop collar – an elegant fashion statement for that more formal, classic look. There is so much out there for today’s man to look his absolute best.

Bold and attractive colours, innovative flaps, fine fabrics like raw silk and well-tailored designs are the characteristic of a classy choice. Team up your attire with fine sandals or shoes, and of course accessories for a complete look and you’ll easily impress anyone with your mannish charm.

So as the holiday season approaches and you’re wondering how to stand out at the thousands of events you have to attend, dare to be different, mix cultures and stand out wherever you go. Rock an ethnic look and turn up your fashion avatar!
