PEACE DECLARATION REACHED BY PDP & APC GUBERNATORIAL ASPIRANTS IN PLATEAU STATE ON JANUARY 14, 2015 AT DREP CENTRE JOS!!

SENATOR PWAJOK RIGHT (PDP ASPIRANT), & HON. LALONG LEFT(APC ASPIRANT) HUG AFTER PEACE DECLARATION AT DREP CENTRE
EZE IGBO, SENATOR PWAJOK (PDP), CATHOLIC ARCH BISHOP  KAIGAMA, HON LALONG (APC), CHIEF IMAM OF JOS.

A dialogue and consultative meeting from the religious and ethnic/community leaders, with newly appointed INEC resident commissioner, leadership of political parties and gubernatorial aspirants from APC and PDP, held on Wednesday 14th January, 2015 for
peaceful electoral conduct, which held at Dialogue, Reconciliation, Peace (DREP) centre, Kwang, Jos.

An agreed statement with one voice was made by all the stake holders present in the meeting. The statement was documented and signed by all the stake holders. Each leader went home with his or her copy.

Here is the statement: - “We solicit for the need for a peaceful and mature conduct of our followers in our exercise of political duties with the utmost decorum, respect for the other, and genuine patriotism.

Some of our elections in the past were characterized by violence and atrocities committed in the name of pursuing political interests. Enough of these violence. We do not need to set Plateau State on fire because of political differences or aggressive pursuit of political power.

Democracy is about freedom of choice without molestation, intimidation or imposition and politics is about the common good, individual and collective progress and the fostering of our common patrimony.
Please let us stay on course and allow the campaigns, political exchanges and electoral process to be transparent, free and God-centered. We call on security agents, electoral officers, aspirants of political offices, and the electorate to do only those things that are noble, just and honest.

"WE DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR AND PROMISE THAT WE WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO COMPROMISE THE PEACE WE ARE ENJOYING NOW IN PLATEAU STATE AND URGE THAT POLITICS OF BITTERNESS AND HOSTILE CONFRONTATION BE REPLACED BY POLITICS OF MATURITY THROUGH DIALOGUE, PEACEFUL CAMPAIGNS AND ENCOUNTERS."

God help Plateau State and Nigeria to go through the State and National elections this year without tears, violence or inter and intra political hostility.
