WHAT SOME OF YOU DO NOT KNOW?!!

Africa has much to offer its inhabitants of the great continent.
Perhaps we aren't able as many nations to find the
solutions to our problems because we keep...
looking outside for
solutions to our diverse problems. Do we not try to recall some of our
history because its old and dull? Or it it just to painful to look back at what
has been wasted to try to see if anything can be salvaged?
To begin moving forward we need to remember what has happened and
work harder not to fall back on the behaviours of the past that ruined our societies.
Hope these short passages will awaken something that has gone dormant in us all.
Looking outside of our societies for technological solutions will do naught to solve
our social imbalances, for that we need to reexamine what we do with the morals
we have developed in our lifetimes. All the weapons in the world will not cure the greed that
unleashes them, but dialogue may just save humanity from itself.
There are able renewable resource the african continent should make use of...

pt 1.

A time came in the history of the land called Africa that emerged a world super power.
This super power was Ancient Egypt. This super power signed the first peace treaty in
the history of human Existence with another super power called Hittites.

''The reign of Ramses II began in hostility against the Hittite state. However, by this pharaoh's
twenty-first year (about 1,290 B.C.), both powers were ready to conclude a treaty, so that they
might turn their attention to other problems, such as the encroachments of the "Sea Peoples."
The offensive and defensive alliance set forth in the following document mentions no effective
frontier between the two empires. Perhaps there was no one firm line, but Egyptian hegemony
was recognized in Palestine and southern Phoenicia, Hittite hegemony in Syria and northern Phoenicia.

Since Akkadian was the diplomatic language of the day, the Egyptian text was a translation,
edited to give greater prominence to the role of Egypt in granting peace. The Hittite version
was probably much closer to the text formally agreed upon, and the two versions should be read together.
The Egyptian version was carved upon the walls of the Temple of Amon at Karnak and of the Ramesseum.''
TREATY BETWEEN THE HITTITES AND EGYPT (Translation from J.B. Pritchard. Ancient Near Eastern
Texts Related to the Old Testament, 3rd ed., p. 199-201.)

YOU CAN FIND THIS PEACE TREATY BETWEEN EGYPT AND HITTITES AT THE UNITED
NATION HEADQUARTERS AT NEW YORK-USA

NOTE: ANCIENT EGYPT WAS A SUPERPOWER;

1. without The support of Europe( I am thinking whether Europe existed at that time?)

2. Using what they have to develop. They developed their own civilization.

3. When they were not Muslims, Christians etc.

4. when they believed in themselves and strive to achieve higher consciousness.

My dear African youth, We have a heritage to be proud of. we have rich history to learn.
we just need to go and search and we will find it. search for your heroes and take them as role models.
we need to empower ourselves and strive for the best of our nation and our continent.
We can see development within, Ancient Egypt have proved this to us now.

pt 2.

There was a kingdom in Africa call ''ZIMBABWE'' The name “Zimbabwe” is variously translated from
the Shona language to mean “sacred house,” “venerated houses,” “houses of stone,” “ritual seat of the king,”
“court,” or “home or grave of the chief.”

The civilization of Great Zimbabwe was one of the most significant civilizations in the world during the
Medieval period. European travelers from Germany, Portugal, and Britain were astonished to learn of this
powerful African civilization in the interior of southern Africa. The first European to visit Great Zimbabwe
was a German geologist, Carl Mauch, in 1871. Like others before him, Mauch refused to believe that indigenous
Africans could have built such an extensive network of monuments made of granite stone. Thus, Mauch assumed
that the Great Zimbabwe monuments were created by biblical characters from the north: “I do not think that I am
far wrong if I suppose that the ruin on the hill is a copy of Solomon’s Temple on Mount Moriah and the building in
the plain a copy of the palace where the Queen of Sheba lived during her visit to Solomon.” Mauch further stated
that a “civilized [read: white] nation must once have lived there.”

Why is the Civilization Important? The Great Zimbabwe civilization is important for several reasons:

1.The Zimbabwe site, featuring the Great Enclosure wall, is one of the most astounding regions with monuments
in Africa, second only to the Nile Valley pyramid region.

2. The ancient plan of Great Zimbabwe is in two parts: the hill complex and the valley complexes.
The hill complex is where the king kept many of his treasures. Although he lived in the Imba Huru
(or Great Enclosure) in the valley, he spent considerable ritual time on the hill. Several important
enclosures exist within the hill complex. The principles ones are the ritual enclosure,
the smelting enclosure and the iron-keeping enclosure.

3. The valley complexes are dominated by the Imba Huru. The height of the main wall of the Imba Huru is
about 32 feet, it is 800 feet long, and utilizes an amazing 15,000 tons of granite blocks. The impressive
blocks were constructed without mortar. The building of this complex took skill, determination and industry,
and thus the Imba Huru demonstrates a high level of administrative and social achievement by bringing
together stone masons and other workers on a grand scale.

4. The extensive trading network made Great Zimbabwe one of the most significant trading regions
during the Medieval period. The main trading items were gold, iron, copper, tin, cattle, and also cowrie shells.
Imported items included glassware from Syria, a minted coin from Kilwa, Tanzania, and Persian & Chinese
ceramics from the 13-14th centuries.

5. Great Zimbabwe was an important commercial and political center. In addition to being in the heart of an
extensive commercial and trading network, the site was the center of a powerful political kingdom, which
was under a central ruler for about 350 years (1100–1450 AD). The site is estimated to have contained
perhaps 18,000 inhabitants, making it one of the largest cities of its day. The conclusion is inescapable
that Great Zimbabwe had a condensed population sufficient for it to be considered a town, or even a city.
However, many Western writers have attempted to reduce the significance of Great Zimbabwe by several
methods: by estimating low population numbers (e.g. only 5,000 instead of 18,000 inhabitants); calling the
dwellings “huts” instead of homes; calling the areas “villages” instead of towns or cities; and identifying the
rulers as “chiefs’ instead of kings. These writers are well aware that smallness means less significance.

MESSAGE TO THE AFRICAN YOUTH;

Our ancestors was NEVER useless and uncivilized as others tells us. Rather they destroyed the legacy they left for us.
They have attempted for us to forget our past and our heroes. They want you to recognize their heroes and forget your own.

My dear African youth, We have a heritage to be proud of. we have rich history to learn. we just need to go and search and
we will find it. search for your heroes and take them as role models. we need to empower ourselves and strive for the best

Pt. 3

The great Benin Empire (from Nigeria to other parts of west Africa and beyond) as a nation is the record of a state that
was established 2300 yrs before any contact was made with European nation. The great Benin Empire made remarkable
achievements in those pre-European years, in art, science, administration, technology, political organization, architectures,
astronomy, town-planning e.t.c.

Lourenco Pinto, who captained a Portuguese ship that brought the missionaries to Warri the ancient port of Benin in 1619,
sent the below deposition to the Sacra Congregazione the instance of father Montelcone. " All the city of this African Empire
are organized, large and harmonious. The streets run straight and as far as the eyes can see. The houses are large;
especially those of the king, which is richly decorated and has, fine columns. The city is wealthy and industrious."

The great Benin Empire built a unique defensive wall around its principal cities. It was considered the largest man-made
structure lengthwise and was hailed as the largest earthwork in the world. It is larger than Sungbo's Eredo.
It enclosed 6,500 km² of community lands. Its length was over 16,000 km of earth boundaries. It was estimated
that earliest construction began in 800 AD and continued into the mid-1400s. This site was added, along with
Sungbo's Eredo, to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on November 1, 1995 in the Cultural category.

The Walls of Benin City was the world's largest man-made structure. Fred Pearce wrote in New Scientist:
"They extend for some 16,000 kilometres in all, in a mosaic of more than 500 interconnected settlement boundaries.
They cover 6,500 square kilometres and were all dug by the Edo people. In all, they are four times longer than the
Great Wall of China, and consumed a hundred times more material than the Great Pyramid of Cheops.
They took an estimated 150 million hours of digging to construct, and are perhaps the largest single
archaeological phenomenon on the planet. Wikipedia.

Education in pre-colonial Benin was organized at the family level and under the apprenticeship system
of the professional guilds. Families that specialized in specific occupations passed on skills from one
generation to another. Education, largely based on observation and practical training, employed the
Edo language as medium of instruction.

Before 1897, Benin encouraged her creative citizens to develop technology for improving the quality of life.
Some of the leaders of the people participated actively in the development of technological innovations.
The basis of these achievements was not physical scientific experimentation but intuitive knowledge based
on right balance between the human spirit and Osanobua (God) developed through solitude in the forest and/or Egun,
and utilization of that knowledge to interact with the natural environment (MAINLY FOREST).
Such interaction produced technological breakthroughs in rudimentary manufacturing, farming systems,
herbal medicine, art, cuisine, etc. It is important to note here that one of the most successful technological
innovators in Benin history was Oba Ewuare who reigned in the 15th century. He made good use of his years
in exile in the forest occasioned by disagreement with the people to acquire valuable knowledge which is the
basis of numerous herbal cures that are today far superior to modern chemically based medicines.

Pt4

By the time Alexander the Great was sweeping the civilized world with conquest after conquest from Chaeronia to Gaza,
from Babylon to Cabul; by the time the first Aryan conquerors were learning the rudiments of war and government at the
feet of the philosopher Aristotle; and by the time Athens was laying down the foundations of European civilization, the
earliest and greatest Ethiopian culture had already flourished and dominated the civilized world for over four centuries and a half.
Imperial Ethiopia had conquered Egypt and founded the XXVth Dynasty, and for a century and a half the central seat of civilization
in the known world was held by the ancestors of the modern Negro, maintaining and defending it against the Assyrian and Persian
Empires of the East. Thus, at the time when Ethiopia was leading the civilized world in culture and conquest, East was East, but
West was not, and the first European (Grecian) Olympiad was yet to be held. Rome was nowhere to be seen on the map, and
sixteen centuries were to pass before Charlemagne would rule in Europe and Egbert became first King of England. Even then,
history was to drag on for another seven hundred weary years, before Roman Catholic Europe could see fit to end the Great Schism,
soon to be followed by the disturbing news of the discovery of America and the fateful rebirth of the youngest of world civilizations.
